Purpose
The East Texas Basketball League exists to prepare kids for middle-school basketball. Coaches are expected to teach fundamentals, give every player meaningful minutes, and model sportsmanship for their team and the stands.

Playing time
Every player on the roster who is present and eligible must play in each half. Coaches, not the league, are responsible for tracking this.
Defense
- 3rd and 4th grade: man-to-man only. No zone, no press, no double-teams outside the lane.
- 5th / 6th grade: man-to-man or zone. Full-court press allowed only in the 4th period, and never when leading by 15 or more.
Conduct
- One coach may stand; assistants stay seated.
- A technical foul on a coach is an automatic seat for the rest of the game. A second in a season is a one-game suspension.
- Parents and fans who are asked to leave a gym by a commissioner must leave. Repeat problems are handled by the league.
Scores and standings
The home town's commissioner enters the final score on this site after each game. Standings are by winning percentage; teams with the same record are ordered by their head-to-head result, then by point differential.
Rescheduling
Weather and gym closures are announced on the home page. Make-up games are scheduled by the two towns' commissioners.
